DESCRIPTION

Jarrah is a dark red wood from Australia. It is a very durable, strong lumber. Usually straight grain with even but moderately coarse texture. Very durable and highly resistant to insects. Excellent for outdoor projects.

OTHER NAMES Blue Gum, Karri and Tasmanian Oak
WORKING PROPERTIES The density of Jarrah as well as its irregular grain patterns makes working with both hand tools and power tools difficult . It holds nails well. Care must be taken when sanding this lumber.
DURABILITY Very durable. Moderately dense lumber.
USES Flooring, decks, exterior trim and siding, accent pieces, joinery, veneer
COMMENTS The tree itself can be quite large - up to 150 feet tall and 5 feet in diameter.
